Palomo Abogados represents local insurance companies in issues related to claims of insured persons or third parties, legal support in new developments and regulatory records of texts of new policies or its amendments before the regulatory body, Superintendence of Banks (SIB for its initials in Spanish). Regarding claims, we have advised cases regarding infrastructure damage, public liability, business termination, pollution and financial issues, among others. 

We also represent reinsurance companies, in cases of local claims, review of reinsurance slips with fronting insurers, defenses of insured persons in judicial or arbitration disputes, commissioned by reinsurers, acting as local lawyers from international law firms who also represent reinsurance companies.

We have advised foreign insurers in strategic alliances with local insurers and have legally supported national insurers in their regional development in Central America and strengthening their presence in other markets through strategic agreements.  In the regulatory matters, we advise registrations and renewals of foreign reinsurers and foreign reinsurance brokers before the Superintendence of Banks (SIB), also coordinating, from our office, the registrations of these clients in other countries through our partner offices in the region.

During 2019, our firm goes into partnership with the international law firm Kennedys, specialized in insurance and maritime, as part of its expansion, within its development plan for the Guatemalan and Central America market.
