Mónica Rodríguez

Since joining the firm more than 15 years ago, she has developed her practice mainly in the area of insurance and maritime.  On the insurance practice, she is responsible for the regulatory issues, advising insurance companies on reviews, coupling texts of new policies and their registrations with the Superintendence of Banks (SIB), as well as the register of reinsurance companies and foreign reinsurance brokers. She has advised, always from the regulatory and contractual point of view, the international alliance of a Guatemalan insurer with a foreign insurer, specialized in medical services, as well as the regional expansion of a Guatemalan insurer in its operations for Central America and the Caribbean. Monica coordinates from Guatemala, regulatory registries in Latin America and the Caribbean, for several reinsurance clients and reinsurance brokers, with the support of local legal firms in different countries.

With regard to maritime law, she integrates the team that advises various disputes in maritime claims, including damage or loss of cargo, subrogation, collisions of ships to docks and port facilities, general average; representing P&I Clubs and their local representatives, as well as shipping companies, carriers, freight forwards and charter party operators.
